Chicago, November 2, 2023 – For the eighth consecutive year, Levin & Perconti has earned a top ten spot on Jury Verdict Reporter’s annual Settlements Report. The firm won settlements for its clients totaling over $55 million between August 1, 2022, and July 31, 2023, according to the 2023 JVR Settlements Report.
Levin & Perconti was recognized for 41 settlements, including an $8 million settlement in a medical malpractice and wrongful death case involving a female patient who died of sepsis when medical providers failed to timely treat hydronephrosis. This is the largest settlement in Illinois history involving a woman in her 60’s in a medical malpractice wrongful death case.

However, the report only takes into account cases that were settled which captures just a fraction of the firm’s work. For example, in a March 2023 trial, firm attorneys obtained a record $40 million verdict from a Coles County, Illinois jury in a birth injury case. This is the highest reported medical malpractice verdict in Illinois outside of Cook County and the highest verdict ever in Coles County history.
