Our Expertise - What Sets Us Apart

We aim to achieve the best possible results for each client in every case we handle. We have consistently succeeded and helped thousands of clients recover significant compensation for serious injuries and wrongful death in all areas of personal injury law. We hold numerous records for the highest settlements and verdicts in Illinois, including the following:

We are one of the nation’s most trusted law firms in nursing home abuse and birth injury litigation. Our three decades of experience have helped us develop the most effective and aggressive approach for each case. Our financial resources allow us to spend every dollar necessary to successfully prosecute each case. We never settle for less than fair compensation and are not afraid to take cases to trial.

Pioneers in Nursing Home Litigation

We work hard to protect the rights of nursing home residents and end abuse and neglect. We have worked with lawmakers and testified to support legislation protecting nursing home residents. We were one of the first law firms in the nation to file lawsuits against nursing homes on behalf of abused and neglected residents.

Our trial lawyers have won the top three nursing home abuse verdicts in Illinois history:

We also hold the record for numerous nursing home abuse settlements in cases involving bedsores, choking incidents, and falls.

National Birth Injury Advocates

Our attorneys are pioneers in birth injury litigation and national advocates of children and families coping with cerebral palsy, intellectual disabilities, and developmental disabilities that stem from birth injuries. We have won numerous multimillion verdicts for birth injury victims and their families, such as the following:

Partner Dov Apfel has been litigating birth injury cases for over 30 years and is the author of a landmark law review article that helped set the standard for how lawyers should litigate causation in cerebral palsy cases.

Client Testimonials

Our Story

Levin & Perconti was founded on a shared passion for justice and a commitment to our clients.

In 1992, Steven Levin and John Perconti, along with Steven’s sister Susan Novosad, joined forces to create a legal team. Steven, a seasoned lawyer since 1976, envisioned a firm with a close-knit feel, fostering a family atmosphere amongst colleagues. This vision has remained a cornerstone of Levin & Perconti to this day.

John J. Perconti, a pre-med student turned legal powerhouse, brought his knowledge of medicine to the table. Together, Steve and John’s complementary expertise proved to be a powerful force. Today, Levin & Perconti consists of over 30 attorneys, all dedicated to securing the best possible outcome for each client.

Steve and John’s combined legal experience spans over 70 years. Throughout their careers, they’ve championed record-breaking cases and left a positive impact on their colleagues’ lives. Their dedication to mentorship and fostering a supportive environment has been instrumental in shaping the success of Levin & Perconti.

From the start, Levin & Perconti understood the importance of mentoring young lawyers, and their invaluable position in the ever-evolving landscape of personal injury law. Ten years after its founding, Michael F. Bonamarte IV and Margaret P. Battersby Black joined Levin & Perconti. Growing with the firm, in 2014, they were both named partners, and in 2021, managing partners. This dedication to developing young lawyer minds is how Levin & Perconti grew their practice from 3 to 32 seasoned personal injury attorneys to date.

Levin & Perconti’s commitment to excellence has yielded remarkable results. The firm has recovered over a billion dollars in settlements and verdicts for their clients, holding negligent parties accountable and ensuring those injured receive the compensation they deserve.

Fueled by the unwavering dedication of its team and a passion for justice, Levin & Perconti remains at the forefront of personal injury law, constantly seeking new ways to serve their clients and make a difference.

FAQs About Working With Levin & Perconti

If we successfully recover compensation for you, we charge a percentage of your proceeds as our fee. We charge no upfront fees, and you only pay if we win.

Personal injury lawsuits can take anywhere from a few weeks to several years to resolve. The length of time required for your case will depend on the complexity of your case and how willing the at-fault party is to settle. Medical malpractice cases can take years to resolve, while many car accident claims can be resolved in weeks or months. After we negotiate your settlement or receive a favorable verdict, we will collect your compensation from the defendant for you. This process typically takes a few weeks.

We work hard to settle every case but refuse to accept less-than-fair compensation. If the insurance company refuses to pay the amount you deserve, we won’t hesitate to take your case to court. However, the choice to settle or go to court always rests with you. We will advise you of the course of action we recommend based on our 30 years of experience and proceed according to your wishes.

The first step in a personal injury lawsuit is an investigation. You must complete this step before filing your case. After filing suit, your case enters the discovery phase, where each side can request the other’s evidence. You may also be required to attend a deposition, where you testify under oath in the presence of your attorneys and a court reporter. If you cannot reach a settlement, your case goes to trial.
When you hire our skilled injury lawyers, we will navigate this process for you and prepare you for any required testimony.
