Who Qualifies for Social Media Addiction Lawsuits?

Video Transcript

Our firm has focused on the horrors of social media addiction for young people in this country. I think we have an actual mental health and physical health crisis as a result of social media. This is not just a lawyer talking; the American Academy of Pediatrics wrote a white paper on the dangers and horrors of social media, and the Surgeon General wrote on that topic. So social media is an insidious, pervasive problem. People often ask us when it is appropriate to bring a lawsuit as a result of harm social media might have caused, and we look at all cases where someone feels and can demonstrate that their loved one or their child, in this case, has suffered mentally as a result of something that occurred on social media, or they suffered physically, or they’ve suffered in a body image way where now they’re losing weight, or they have suicidal ideation, or they have extreme anxiety, or in horrible cases where they’ve committed suicide. So in order to have a social media lawsuit, there has to be an injury or a death that resulted from social media use.
